About Jetpack Interactive:
Jetpack Interactive has been a fixture in the Vancouver game development community since 2011. Our studio DNA originated from three flagship Vancouver development studios (Black Box Games, Deep Fried Entertainment, & United Front Games). We are a console & PC game developer and have focused on building long-term relationships with AAA game studios who need engineering expertise to help bring their games to market.
Jetpack has worked alongsideSony Interactive Entertainment (Santa Monica Studio) on several God Of War projects, including the port of GOW 2018 to PC/Steam and GOW Ragnarok. Jetpack’s work has received praise from critics and Sony Santa Monica alike and our studio continues to collaborate with Santa Monica Studio and other Sony first-party and third-party developers.
We are looking for a few skilled game developers to join our team and help PlayStation bring some of their most prized IPs to market. Role:
You are a gamer at heart and love working in C++. You’re comfortable working with others to create more efficient workflows and experienced in pipeline optimization to make everyone’s life a bit easier. You get shit done and ship games.
Responsibilities:
● Research, define, extend, and maintain production pipelines from source assets down to the runtime
● Collaborate effectively with programmers, designers and artists across the studio to gather requirements and help to troubleshoot the problems
● Profile, identify and optimize bottlenecks in complex data processing pipelines and tools (performance, memory, IO)
● Work independently to complete assigned projects with limited supervision
Requirements:
● Minimum five years of professional programming experience in game engine or pipeline engineering roles in Console Games, VFX or Animation industry
● Strong foundation in C++
● Good knowledge of OpenUSD
● Experience developing tools, plugins or exporters for one or more DCC packages such as Maya, Houdini, 3ds Max or MotionBuilder
Preferred Experience:
● C# or Python
● Development of UI tools (Qt, C#/WPF or similar)
● Solid understanding of 3D math (especially linear algebra and vector math)
● Experience using CPU performance profiling tools (e.g. Visual Studio Profiler, Windows Performance Analyzer, Superluminal, Intel VTune)

Responsibilities:
● Research, define, extend, and maintain production pipelines, processes, and workflows
● Liaise effectively both internally and with our client; drive collaboration and add value to the project
● Troubleshoot issues; resolve them: invent or build robust, quality technical implementations
● Work closely with artists and designers to develop procedural systems and improve their workflows
● Participate in art asset reviews to help identify technical concerns or risks
● Understand, communicate and prioritize the needs of our clients
Requirements:
● Minimum 7 years of professional experience in computer-generated 3D art
● Solid understanding of 3D math
● Intimate knowledge of Houdini and/or procedural asset creation
● High Proficiency with Maya
● Familiar with artist workflows and processes
● Good understanding of algorithm design and of their inherent complexity
● Proficient scripting/programming experience in Python, PyQT/PySide
● Ability to write clean, maintainable and extensible code with attention to reusability
● Ability to effectively manage relationships with external clients
● Enthusiasm and initiative
● Excellent spoken and written communication
Preferred Experience:
● Industry experience working and shipping AAA titles
● Programming experience with C++
● Experience in design or creating world building tool sets

● Understanding of artist workflows, VFX authoring (particles, flip books, flow maps), lighting theory (PBR/PBL, LUTs), HDR pipeline, color theory, profiling, and/or optimizing for real-time rendering
● Experience with HLSL, GLSL or similar shader languages
● Expertise of 3D math fundamentals
● Proficient scripting/programming experience with Python, PyQT/PySide or equivalent
● Strong understanding of algorithm design and their inherent complexity
● Ability to write clean, maintainable and extensible code with attention to reusability
● Excellent spoken and written communication
● Ability to effectively manage relationships with external clients
